Despite a long-lasting war between the two countries, Turkey and Greece ; the Greek Prime Minister Eleutherios Kryiakos Venizelos, in a three-paged letter he wrote in 1934, proposed that Mustafa Kemal ( ATATURK, the founder of Turkish Republic ) be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize that year.The Prime Minister expressed his admiration for this great man,asserting that he had paved the way for the proclomation of indepedence.
